My name is George, and I am the founder of Wheelchair Adventures Manitoba—a community-driven initiative built from lived experience, research, and a deep passion for breaking barriers for people in wheelchairs and others with mobility challenges.
After a cycling accident that left me an incomplete quadriplegic, I spent many months in the hospital and returned home eager to maintain an active lifestyle. I began searching for accessible activities, facilities, and resources throughout Manitoba. That search evolved into a personal mission: to gather and share helpful information for others who may be on a similar journey.
From accessible swimming pools and gyms to healthcare resources, accessible trails, adaptive cycling, and everything in between, I have built a website that aims to empower individuals in wheelchairs—and beyond—with opportunities, knowledge, and inspiration.

- A free informal accessibility assessment checklist—with the option to request an on-site paid assessment.
- Updates on adaptive cycling rides, wheelchair repair workshops, accessible trail improvements, and community events.

- Trail assessments and collaborations with municipalities (e.g., the 37-page Recommended Trail Improvement Report now in use by the City of Winnipeg).
- Video presentations and guides to local disability supports.
- Disability Bookshelf for children, youth and adults with links to Winnipeg Public Library.
- Blog space for stories of adaptation, resilience, and community contributions.
The website is already helping schools, healthcare staff, families, and individuals across Manitoba—and now we are preparing to expand its impact even further through social media, new blog contributors, and deeper collaboration with disability organizations.
